In 2021, my class, Graphic Design IV: Advertising Design, created marketing materials for Daemen University’s Spring Open House. Derived from that year’s All High Art Weekends integrated marketing campaign, the students learned how to expand an established campaign to fit other situations. While students created more traditional materials like posters and tote bags to hand to prospective students touring the Visual & Performing Arts department, they were also instructed to think outside the box to create materials that would stand out to event attendees. Students had ideas to make photo backdrops for social media pictures and paper airplanes for students to interact with. One student even created a paper fortune teller for prospective students to see what major would be the best for them. After completing the project, the materials were displayed in Daemen’s Tower Gallery.
